This is the sweetest thing you’ll read all week! A gay teenager named Anthony Martinez, who is on the student council at his Las Vegas high school and helps plan dances, never gets asked out. After complaining on Twitter that he hadn’t been asked to the prom, he got an invite from an unexpected suitor — his straight BFF Jacob Lescenski.
“I DONT WANT TO DATE YOU I JUST WANT A GUY AS A DATE TO PROM. I ALWAYS HELP WITH DANCES ITD BE NICE TO GET ASKED TO ONE,” Martinez tweeted on April 20, later telling NewNowNext that “like any teen, I complained about it on Twitter.”

His best friend then stepped up to the plate to pull off the sweetest surprise in history. With the help of a few other pals, Lescenski presented Martinez with a banner in the school hallway that read: “You’re hella gay, I’m hella str8, but you’re like my brother, so be my d8?”
A happily startled Martinez gladly accepted the promposal.
“Guess who got asked to prom! BY A STRAIGHT GUY (Army pants),” Martinez later posted on Tumblr, along with a snap of the banner. “He’s my best friend, and a real man given the fact he has the guts to fulfill my gay student council dream of always helping out planning dances, and never getting asked. I couldn’t ask for a better person in my life.”
