Terry Crews is confessing a “dirty little secret.” In a series of Facebook videos this week, the athlete-turned-actor revealed that he was addicted to pornography and had to go to rehab for the problem. The Brooklyn Nine Nine star said his addiction started at age 12 and almost cost him his wife, Rebecca King-Crews.
“For years, years, years, my dirty little secret was that I was addicted to pornography,” he stated in his first video, appropriately titled “Dirty Little Secrets.”
“It really, really messed up my life in a lot of ways,” Crews admitted. “I had the biggest sense of entitlement ever. I felt the world owed me something. I felt like my wife owed me sex.”
The 47-year-old explained that he would watch without anyone’s knowledge. Even his wife, whom he married in 1990, was unaware.
“If day turns into night and you are still watching, you probably got a problem,” Crews explained of his addiction. “My wife was literally like, ‘I don’t know you anymore. I’m out of here.’ … I had to change because I realized, yo, this thing is a major, major problem. I literally had to go to rehab for it. I didn’t get help to get my wife back. I got help because I needed it.”
Crews confessed his secret on Facebook to help others suffering from what he calls a “worldwide problem.”
“I know there are a lot of people who are going through this,” he concluded in his third video. “I love you guys and I’m here. Give me more of your questions … we gonna talk about this because the more we talk about it, the more we can beat it.”
