Former NFL star Tim Tebow found himself in the middle of a real life medical emergency during a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Phoenix over the weekend.
According to fellow passenger Richard Gotti, who wrote about the incident on his Facebook page on Sunday, June 26, a man a few rows in front of him began suffering from heart problems mid-journey.
Gotti reported that airline staff and passengers all teamed together to help the gentleman, giving him chest compressions, starting an IV or praying.
“The crew of Delta Airlines were amazing. They acted in a fast and professional manner! Then all of a sudden, I observed a guy walking down the aisle,” Gotti wrote.
"That guy was Tim Tebow. He met with the family as they cried on his shoulder! I watched Tim pray with the entire section of the plane for this man. He made a stand for God in a difficult situation,” he added.
Delta Air Lines spokesman Brian Kruse confirmed there had been a medical emergency during the flight and that paramedics were on hand to meet the plane.
"We can’t say enough about the Delta professionals who care for our customers every day and we are grateful to our customers who are so often quick to extend kindness and care to one another," he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Gotti’s Facebook post quickly went viral and has been shared over 7,000 times.
Reacting with incredulity to the volume of visitors his post had received, Gotti commented on his post with a message for Tebow.
“God has given you a platform to stand on to share your faith by example, and you truly live what you speak!” he wrote. “God will bless you. I can not begin to imagine the lives you have influenced with your Godly character and your morals.”
