Bey’s got her back! Tina Knowles gushed about daughter Solange Knowles‘ New Orleans wedding during Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, Nov. 19, explaining that it was big sister Beyonce that helped the bride recover after getting hives during her big day.
“[Solange] went through the wedding and the sit-down dinner and she was just fine, and then they had a second line in the streets of New Orleans and she was dancing so hard, I think she just got overheated,” Tina, 60, recalled to ET’s Nancy O’Dell and Kevin Frazier. “And the seafood — she had a reaction to it. So her face broke out in welts.”
The “Losing You” singer, 28, was photographed being whisked away from husband Alan Ferguson at the time — and Tina now explains why.
“[Beyonce] took her back to the hotel and gave her Benadryl and in two hours she showed up at the reception and did the dance with her son and just had a ball,” the proud mom of two said. After the Big Easy bash, Solange also tweeted a shout-out to Benadryl for helping her get through the rest of the festivities.
Solange wore an all-white Humberto Leon for Kenzo floor-length gown with a cape to marry her video producer love, and even staged a choreographed dance with her 10-year-old son Julez, whom she shares with ex-husband Daniel Smith.
“There wasn’t a dry eye on the place,” Tina told ET of the wedding celebration. “[The couple] were just so heartfelt and I just think the wedding epitomized Solange as a person, and her and Alan’s artistic flare.”
Queen Bey and Jay Z’s daughter Blue Ivy watched her aunt walk down the aisle, but did not attend the afterparty. (Beyonce shared an Instagram pic of Blue bonding with the new spouses on Nov. 18.)
“[Julez] only got to come and do the dance and then he had to leave. Had to go to bed. It was a grown folks party,” Tina added of her grandson. “I got two [grandsons] and a [granddaughter]. Couldn’t ask for better than that.” When asked about a sibling for Blue, she added: “I’m always ready for more grandbabies.”
