Not OK. Uma Thurman got way more than she bargained for when Italian entrepreneur Lapo Elkann passionately kissed her during a charity auction at the amfAR Gala in Antibes, France, on Thursday, May 19.
Elkann went in for a big smooch after placing a winning $196,000 bid for a kiss from the movie star, the Daily Mail reports. Elkann grabbed Thurman’s face for the heavy makeout session, which was all caught on camera.
“It is opportunism at its worst. She wasn’t complicit in it. Somewhere in his [mind] he must have thought it an appropriate way of behaving. It clearly wasn’t,” Thurman’s rep said in a statement after the incident, via DM. “It looks like she was happy to have it happen, but it was not consensual.”
The Brits Are Coming actress, 46, who hosted the charity event, appeared to be taken aback by the situation in some photos. In other pics, she smiled and tried to maintain her composure.
As previously reported, Thurman appears to be dating hotelier Andre Balazs these days. The couple ended their three-year romance in 2007 but were photographed on vacation in St. Bart’s in March 2015. Earlier this month, they attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in NYC on May 2.
Thurman was famously married to Ethan Hawke from 1998 to 2005. She and Hawke are parents to daughter Maya, 17, and son Levon, 14. She also is mom to daughter Rosalind, 3, with ex-fiancé Arpad Busson.
