There’s a reason she’s Posh Spice! Victoria Beckham has banned cash registers from her new London store because she doesn’t think they’re pretty.
In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, David Beckham‘s designer wife said the store lacks the devices because they are “ugly.” All transactions will be made instead via a (sleek) iPad.
Beckham’s first store, which she’s dubbed her “second home,” is 6,040 square feet and spans three floors, resembling more of an art gallery than a clothing boutique.
“I wanted a space that was conceptual — but also warm and welcoming,” Beckham told the site of working with architect Farshid Moussavi, whose work includes the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland, Ohio.
“There are a lot of people — the general public — who’ve continued on this journey with me, and I want everybody to feel welcome, whether they’re going to buy something, or whether they just want to come and check out the architecture,” she said. “And I really wanted people to get a sense of me the minute they walked through the door.”
Fans who came by for the opening of her store on Thursday, Sept. 25 missed the star however. The former songstress opted out of the launch and instead appeared at the United Nations in New York City to address the General Assembly as the goodwill ambassador for UNAIDS. In lieu of his wife, a dapper looking David attended instead.
