Vin Diesel, Amid Feud, Says Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson ‘Shines’ in ‘Fast and Furious’ Role

Getting back on track? Vin Diesel praised his Fast 8 costar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a Facebook video on Friday, August 19, amid their ongoing alleged feud.

Diesel, 49, first thanked fans for their support before revealing how the former wrestler, 44, was cast in the hugely successful franchise.

“When I think about how fortunate I am and how blessed I am, it’s hard for me not to recognize how much all of you have affected those blessings. And how much you all attributed to me feeling so fortunate,” Diesel said. “Know this, without you, I would not be doing Fast 8.

“The reason we brought Dwayne Johnson into Fast 5 was because of you!” he continued. “There was a [fan] named Jan Kelly who said, ‘I would love to see you guys work together on screen.’ So we gave the role that was originally written for Tommy Lee Jones, we gave it to Dwayne and he shined in it.”

Despite the compliment, Diesel and Johnson have reportedly been at odds. Earlier this month, Johnson posted a cryptic Instagram post slamming some of his male costars. He didn’t name names, but he did call them “candy asses” that are unprofessional on set.

Days later, TMZ reported that Johnson was speaking about the XXX actor, who also serves as producer on the sequel. According to the site, the stars had a difficult time getting through scenes together, and they had a secret meeting on set in Atlanta about their beef.

Johnson and Diesel’s feud may not be over, however. On Friday, Johnson thanked the Fast 8 cast and crew, but noticeably didn’t give Diesel a shout-out.

“Finished strong and on to the next. That’s an officially wrap on #FastAndFurious8. Thank you to our director @fgarygray for the vision and execution. Thank you UNIVERSAL for being tremendous partners as always, thank you to all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind,” he captioned an Instagram pic of himself standing next to a private plane.

“Scott Eastwood you handsome sumbitch!” he added. “Natalie Emmanuel I have a cold Budweiser ready for you and Tyrese Gibson you still have the biggest smile and forehead I’ve ever seen.”
