Vin Diesel Memorializes “Brother” Paul Walker, Thanks Fans at Crash Site in Two Moving Tributes

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker

Heartbreaking. After two days after the confirmed death of Paul Walker, the late star's friend and Fast and Furious costar Vin Diesel memorialized him in several touching ways on Monday, Dec. 2. The grieving action superstar, 46, refreshed his Facebook page with a new photo of him and Walker (40 when he died in a car crash on Saturday) smiling at one another. Quoting Thomas Campbell, Diesel's caption read: "'To live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die.'" Addressing Walker as "Pablo," Diesel continues: "Pablo, I wish you could see the world right now… and the profound impact, your full life has had on it, on Us… on me…I will always love you Brian," he said, referencing Walker's Fast and Furious character, "as the brother you were… on and off screen."

Diesel also updated his Facebook cover photo with a happy shot in which the pair, joined by Fast and Furious costar Jordana Brewster, ecstatically greet fans at a Hollywood awards show.

On Monday evening, Diesel — following a private memorial service for Walker — also visited the site of Walker's fiery crash in Santa Clarita, Calif. There, the star grabbed a police car speaker to thank and address fans holding vigil at the site. (Los Angeles reporter Gadi Schwartz posted a video of Diesel's appearance via Instagram.)

"I just want to say to all of you, if my brother were here right now and he saw all of the love you are bringing here," said Diesel, casually clad in a hoodie sweatshirt and jacket. "If he could see for himself that all of you have shown up to show my brother love… at this hard time his family gets to see all of you show the love that you've shown Paul. It's going to stay with me forever. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciate him."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures obtained a permit for police to shut down the area near the crash site for the memorial service for Walker's friends and colleagues, which took place between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Monday. See more photos of Paul Walker through the years.
