A face cute enough to get away with murder! It’s no secret that Viola Davis’ 5-year-old daughter, Genesis, is absolutely adorable. But for Halloween this year, the little girl upped her game, dressing as her famous mom accepting her first Emmy.
“So…..the Elsa costume? Didn’t work for her. The Pirate? A no go. So she finally said,’ I just want to be YOU mommy’! So… uhh…..this is ME,” Davis, 50, captioned the pic of her little girl grinning and holding up an Emmy trophy (technically it’s a fake Oscar, foreshadowing?) while wearing a white dress similar to the one she wore for the September awards show.
Back in September, Davis made history as the first African-American female to win in the Best Lead Actress category for her role as Annalise Keating in ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder, and gave an inspiring, emotional acceptance speech, quoting Harriet Tubman.
After her big win, Davis told Ellen DeGeneres that her daughter had been supporting her throughout.
“She said ‘Mommy you don’t have to be afraid of losing. You’re still my favorite girl,’” the proud mom recalled. “That made me cry, but I was like, ‘I don’t want to lose, baby.’”
