The actor, 46, was asked how he divvies up his time between work and his own personal life. “Now that’s really interesting,” the Independence Day actor noted. “Jada and I have struggled with that a little bit.. The problem is one person is in work mode while the other person is in chill mode. Then it’s like you’re both trying to come up.”

Smith said it’s a natural struggle for ambitious couples in Hollywood, notably his own. (His wife is currently starring in her Fox series Gotham, and he’s working on several big projects as well.)

“It is really something that will happen in time,” the Fresh Prince star told Us. “And you’ll realize that you’re either really committed to having a relationship, or you’re really committed to coming up. At some point one or the other is going to have to suffer.”

While the Smiths have struggled in that regard, the couple walked the red carpet on Tuesday, kissing each other and turning up the PDA. An eyewitness tells Us that Pinkett Smith “glowed” as her husband leaned down to kiss her.

“They looked at each other and smiled,” the observer adds, saying the couple “complemented each other well.”

Their affectionate outing counters a November 2013 rumor that Smith had cheated on his wife of 18 years with his significantly younger costar, Margot Robbie, during a frisky photo booth session at the Focus wrap party in Australia. Robbie later slammed the rumors as “ridiculous,” saying there was “absolutely no truth” to the speculation.

On a similar note, Smith told reporters on Tuesday that he’s not an advocate of colleagues dating one another. “Ooh, no fishing off the company pier is the first rule,” he told Us.
