Who wouldn’t swipe right? Zac Efron got real about dating in the public eye and what happened when he tried Tinder — and it’s not always easy, even for a hottie like him!

The Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates actor, 28, said his celebrity status means he’ll never be able to make a true first impression. “Dating is something I’ll never be able to do,” he told British newspaper The Times. “As in the dictionary definition of dating, because one way or another I’ve impacted that person’s life and they’ll soon realize it. … A date has to be very long to dispel whatever people think of me.”

Efron and Sami Miró called it quits in April after nearly two years of dating. The newly single star said he’s downloaded dating apps, but it hasn’t exactly worked out. “Amazingly, when I signed up for Tinder, nobody swiped me!” he said. “They thought [my profile] was fake."

He also opened up about his past struggle with depression and explained why he’s not an avid social media user. “I lost my mind because of the internet. I’d read 30 positive things and one bad thing, then I’d harbor that bad thing. It drove me crazy,” said Efron, who has previously talked about how he used to google himself every morning before he learned to ignore what other people think.

Efron recently wrapped filming on the Baywatch big-screen reboot and said his costar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been an inspiration to him. “He wants to make an impact beyond acting,” Efron told The Times. "He could run for president. F–k it, he’d be better than anyone at this point.”

But the High School Musical alum just wants to focus on his acting career and block out everything else. “We have the ability to change the world with cinema. I love acting, I study it every night — Enter the Dragon, Se7en. It’s been a struggle,” he said. "From day one, I wanted to do authentic work. It wasn’t about money. It wasn’t about fame. It wasn’t about Instagram.”
