Grab a tissue, because Zac Efron's beloved dog Puppy Efron has died, and the actor's goodbye message to him is heartbreaking.
The Neighbors star broke the sad news on Instagram and Twitter on Thursday, August 25, by sharing an adorable snap of the pair together.
"Through thick and thin you've always been my best friend. I'll see you at the finish line, RIP Puppy Efron,” he wrote alongside the cute picture.
He then added the lyrics from Chance the Rapper's song “Finish Line.”
“Felt hog tied ever since my dog died / He lived to 84, damn, that's a long ride / I know he up there he just sit and he wait / I'll be racing up the stairs Imma get to the gate singing.”
Efron, 28, only announced in April 2012 that he had become the proud owner of the Australian shepherd the previous Christmas.
He also has two other pooches, Chappelle — a dog he adopted with his ex-girlfriend Sami Miro — and another Australian shepherd named Dreamer.
The hunk is clearly pet crazy and once ran out into the street in his underwear to save a puppy.
"I rescued a dog,” he said in an interview with BuzzFeed. “He was a puppy and he got away. I just ran out in the yard to go save him, like in the street, in my underwear — I just woke up — and snagged him and was like, 'No, don't run away.' And I looked up and my neighbor and his whole family were like, 'Morning!' I was like, 'Hey! This is awkward. You have a lot of kids.'"
