C’est chic! Us Weekly Video caught up with New York City’s style set at the premiere of the Met Gala documentary, The First Monday in May, at the Tribeca Film Festival on Wednesday, April 13.
The fashion industry’s brightest stars came out to show support for the film starring Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Top designers (and Met Gala regulars) Zac Posen, Donna Karan and Vivienne Tam chatted with Us on the red carpet about their sartorial secrets.
“I’m excited to see how it evolves and comes out,” a thrilled Posen, 35, told Us of this year’s themed affair — “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” — which will take place on Monday, May 2. “It’s in the making right now.”
When it comes to Posen’s favorite Met Gala looks, he said that he has “so many,” but was quick to acknowledge “Uma Thurman in a mean green,” referring to the stunning olive gown he designed for the actress in 2013.
Tam, 58, raved about Sarah Jessica Parker’s show-stopping Philip Treacy headpiece at 2015’s “China: Through the Looking Glass” gala.
While Posen and Tam shared their affinity for couture, Karan, 67, emphasized the importance of comfort in clothing choices.
“You have to be comfortable,” the DKNY founder said at last night’s premiere. “I can’t stand wearing fashion for fashion.”
When it comes to following trends, Tam summed it up best for Us. “Wear something you really like to wear,” she said.
