Just good friends? Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid get hot and steamy in the video for his new single, “Pillowtalk,” which was released late on Thursday, January 28, and shows the handsome duo making out on screen.
The video for the song, which is Malik’s highly anticipated first solo effort since leaving One Direction, shows the pair touching each other’s faces and lips before going in for a full-on smooch, right up close to the cameras.
The 23-year-old musician declared himself to be “good friends” with the 20-year-old model during a conversation with Apple Music’s Beats 1 on Thursday, January 28.
But if the onscreen steamy makeout session is anything to go by, his stammering apparent denials of their relationship (which Us Weekly first reported on in November 2015) may have been a little misleading.
Regardless of Malik’s official romance status, fans are reacting positively to his first release as a former boy-bander.
“#PillowTalk is SO GOOD WHAT THE HELL,” one fan tweeted, while another added, “#PillowTalk is incredible bravo @zaynmalik x.”
Malik also revealed during his Apple Music’s Beats 1 interview that his debut solo album is on its way.
“It is finished,” he revealed. “There’s obviously little bits and parts I need to do on certain things.… I think there’s going to be 17 or 18 songs.”
