She did it for Frank! Zoe Kravitz ditched her signature long black box braids for a much lighter hue, as seen in a Sunday, October 23, Instagram post. Like Kristin Cavallari and Kylie Jenner, the Lolawolf rocker, 27, dyed her hair platinum blonde — and cited an unlikely inspiration in her caption.

“Blond like frank,” she wrote, referencing Frank Ocean’s long-awaited Blonde album from this summer. She credited hairstylist Daniel Moon, who’s also worked with Madonna and Katy Perry, for the job.

But that was only Kravitz’s first major change on the ‘gram. On Monday, October 24, she showed off a new set of blonde braids that fell past her back in a promotional post for Coach. The daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet rocked an oversized white T-shirt tucked into a pair of tan brown pants, letting her bright ‘do pop against her neutral separates.

While the change looks great on the Divergent actress, there were a few reasons why she didn’t stray too far from her go-to black plaits. “I originally did them as a joke, like an ode to the ’90s,” she told California Style in October 2015. “They aren’t some symbolic thing, but it still feels important, I think, to be a brown girl with natural hair. You see blond girls with the same hair in every movie.”

And in a separate interview, Kravitz revealed that she revisited the style for a role. “I think all brown girls have a complicated relationship with their hair,” she told Byrdie in May 2016. “I put in braids for the character I played in the movie Dope, and I’m like, ‘This is nice.’ Then I kept them in. It’s good for my hair, and it looks cool and it’s easy, and I don’t have to do anything when it’s done. It’s great.”
