The things we do for love! Zooey Deschanel made a grand gesture for husband Jacob Pechenik, a source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly.
In the past, the New Girl actress has declined to identify with any particular faith. “I don’t attach myself to any one religion,” Deschanel, whose mom is Roman Catholic and father is Quaker, has said. “My family is liberal. I was raised in the ‘you can be whatever you want’ kind of way. And in the end, I was like, ‘Eh.’”
But before marrying producer Pechenik in June, the 35-year-old mother of Elsie, 3 months, professed a new set of beliefs. “Zooey converted to Judaism for Jacob,” an insider reveals to Us.
And her new life has been divine. Adds a source close to the couple, “They’re loving the baby and marriage!”
The Driftless Area star and her husband welcomed their first child together in July. Last month, the new mom explained her daughter's name, Elsie Otter, in an interview on the Today show. "We just really liked the name Elsie and then we both love otters, they're very sweet and they're also smart," she shared. "They use tools…they hold hands while they sleep…They're wonderful animals."
