Meghan chose not to wear pantyhose throughout her engagement to Harry and she famously stepped out sans the tights in November 2017 when announcing their happy news. The former Tig blogger sported nude tights for the first time in May for her first official royal appearance.

Prince William didn’t invite Duchess Kate to Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas Eve celebration in 2010 when they were engaged. However, Harry was able to bring Meghan along in December 2017. “Attending as a fiancée is a first for the family,” a source told Us at the time. “Given that Meghan doesn’t have family in the U.K., it’s only right that she spends Christmas with Harry and his. Harry asked the queen for permission last month and she is delighted to have Harry bring his fiancée. It’s a family occasion, after all, and Meghan is very much family now.”

Although Meghan was raised Protestant, she was baptized at the Chapel Royal at St. James’ Palace in March, two months before marrying Harry.

Meghan was married to talent manager Trevor Engelson from 2011 to 2013. Although the queen approved of her grandson’s wedding, previous royals who have broken traditional rules haven’t been so lucky. In 1937, King Edward VII abdicated the British throne when marrying American divorcée Wallis Simpson.

The Suits alum and the Captain General Royal Marine added many untraditional touches to their special day in May. The pair exchanged vows at Windsor Castle, defying the royal norm of weddings taking place at Westminster Abbey. Their ceremony featured an American choir and minister, a tribute to Meghan’s home country. Meghan also did things her way by walking herself down the aisle before Prince Charles escorted her to the altar. Another personal flare? Harry wears a wedding ring, something that Charles and William both opted out of.

Meghan was given her own coat of arms following her nuptials to Harry, a move that breaks royal tradition. The father of the bride is typically given a coat of arms, but this wasn’t the case as Thomas Markle did not attend the wedding. Even more, Megan’s code of arms did not include her family name.

Not ashamed! Meghan and Harry often lock lips and embrace in public, while William and Kate are far more reserved.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex actively engage with their supporters, more so than any other royal couple has. During outings, the pair are often seen signing autographs, hugging their devotees, taking selfies and accepting gifts.

Meghan is a modern woman! The royal subtly broke royal protocol in September during her first solo outing while closing her own car door.

Meghan and Harry’s future children will live relatively normal lives. “[Harry] grew up with the entire world watching his every move, which has made him very private and somewhat resentful of the royal he was born into,” a source told Us in October. “He does not want that for his own children.”
The parents-to-be will pick their kids up from school, ride the subway with them, involve them in charity work and encourage them to pursue regular careers. They will also enjoy privacy while residing at the Queen’s Windsor Estate, 25 miles outside of London.
