Jen Shah was arrested on Tuesday, March 30, for her alleged role in a telemarketing scheme that defrauded hundreds of victims, many elderly and working-class, throughout the United States. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, 47, and her assistant Stuart Smith were both booked for the crime. “Jennifer Shah, who portrays herself as a wealthy and successful businessperson on ‘reality’ television, and Stuart Smith, who is portrayed as Shah’s ‘first assistant,’ allegedly generated and sold ‘lead lists’ of innocent individuals for other members of their scheme to repeatedly scam,” Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said in a press release on Tuesday. “In actual reality and as alleged, the so-called business opportunities pushed on the victims by Shah, Smith, and their co-conspirators were just fraudulent schemes, motivated by greed, to steal victims’ money. 1. She’s the Real Housewives franchise’s first Polynesian cast member

Shah, who is Tongan and Hawaiian, is proud of her Polynesian heritage. After learning about the historical treatment of Black people by the Mormon church, she converted from Mormonism to Islam.

The Utah native shares sons Sharrieff Jr. and Omar with husband Sharrieff Shah, who coaches football at the University of Utah.

3. She loves social media

Shah was vocal on social media while season 1 of RHOSLC aired, live-tweeting throughout the show's run and sharing her opinions on fellow cast members. 

During President Joe Biden’s campaign, the Utah native urged her followers to vote for the then-Democratic nominee in a dress made of campaign signs.

4. She chooses her role models wisely

“[Teresa Giudice] walked, so I could run 😂” the Bravolebrity tweeted in September 2020 after a fan wrote that she looked like she was about to launch a wine glass across the table at a cast member. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star pleaded guilty to multiple federal fraud charges in March 2014.
