Jenelle Evans: My Relationship With My Mother Barbara Evans Is ‘Destroyed' After Heated Exchange Outside Custody Hearing

A heated exchange. Jenelle Evans and her mother, Barbara Evans, went head to head over the former Teen Mom 2 star’s 2-year-old daughter, Ensley, outside of a North Carolina courthouse on Tuesday, June 4. “I do feel like my relationship with my mom is destroyed at this point,” Jenelle told Us Weekly exclusively after her Tuesday hearing. “This isn’t a way a mother should be treating her daughter. She fights so hard for my sister and my brother when they are the ones with major issues, not me.” In the video obtained by TMZ, the 27-year-old argued with Barbara as she held onto the daughter she shares with husband David Eason. “I’m right outside the courthouse, giving my daughter a hug,” Jenelle said to her mom outside of court on Tuesday. “If you have a problem with it, then go get an officer because obviously she’s not scared. I’m hugging her.” Barbara then fired back that the toddler will “go hungry” because she only has half an hour to get her lunch. “It’s only for the cameras,” Barbara added as the mother-daughter duo walked to the car. [jwplayer 8yv6kZGp-l3ahXupL] Jenelle and Eason, 30, returned to court on Tuesday to continue to fight for their kids after they were removed from the controversial couple’s home last month. A judge ruled on May 28 that Barbara would be granted temporary custody of Ensley after Eason admitted that he shot and killed Jenelle’s French bulldog. Barbara has also had custody of her daughter’s eldest son, Jace, now 9, for the majority of his life. Jenelle is also the mother of 4-year-old Kaiser, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith. After initially staying with his paternal grandmother, Doris, the young boy was placed in his father’s temporary custody. Jenelle told Us that she has “no idea” why her mother told TMZ that she was only embracing her daughter “for the cameras.”

“I believe my mom is saying anything at this point to make herself feel better,” the former MTV star told Us. “It might all boil down to jealousy.”

Fight On

CPS launched an investigation into Jenelle and her husband of less than two years after the dog incident. According to the reality personality, a new judge was assigned to the case on Tuesday and “court was continued for now until the end of the month.”

“There’s a lot of progress made on our behalf and [we] have to wait until our next court date as of now,” Jenelle explained to Us on Tuesday.

The Maryssa Factor

While reports surfaced last month that the duo were no longer pursuing custody of Eason’s daughter, Maryssa, Jenelle told Us that isn’t the case.

“All children are involved in this case, not just one or the other. In the end, either the three children will come home that live with us primarily [or not],” she told Us, seemingly referring to Maryssa, Kaiser and Ensley — since Barbara has had custody of Jace for most of his life. (Eason also has a son from a previous relationship that doesn’t live with him and Jenelle.)

“No child was ‘dropped’ from the case at all,” Jenelle countered. “Those reports are false and we are going to fight for all children to come home eventually.”

“We want nothing more than for the kids to come home,” Jenelle told Us. “They are sad and not understanding anything that’s happening.”

Family Feud

Jenelle’s brother, Colin, reportedly shared a video of a distressed Ensley on Tuesday via Twitter. The Read Between the Lines author confronted Barbara about the video outside of court on Tuesday.

“This video was sent to my phone today of my daughter being in extreme distress and crying for her ‘Mommy,’” Jenelle explained to Us. “I have no clue why this video was posted by my brother.”

Distance Relatives

According to Jenelle, she is not in contact with her brother, who was recently seen at the beach with Ensley and Jace in a photo posted by Barbara. “I do not speak to him and do not want him around any children with the state of mind that Colin is in,” she told Us. “This has already been reported by authorities and taking the correct steps to handle this situation the best we can.”

Trying to Move On

“At this time we are cooperating with the judge and legal team from court,” Jenelle’s manager said in a statement to Us on May 28. “We will continue to cooperate with the court and their decisions.”
