RHOBH's Kyle Richards and Husband Mauricio Umansky's Relationship Timeline

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky were married for more than two decades before they shocked fans with their separation in 2023. Richards was previously married to Guraish Aldjufrie, with whom she shares daughter Farrah, from 1988 to 1992. She met Umansky in 1994, and the couple exchanged vows two years later. Richards was four months pregnant with daughter Alexia when she and Umansky walked down the aisle. The twosome went on to welcome daughters Sophia and Portia in 2000 and 2008, respectively. In 2010, Richards made her Bravo debut when The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premiered. For more than 10 seasons of the show, Richards' marriage was put to the test — but she and Umansky remained solid. However, in July 2023, Us Weekly confirmed that Richards and Umansky had separated after 27 years of marriage. 1992

The Little House on the Prairie alum finalized her divorce from first husband Aldjufrie two years after separating.

1996

Before marrying Umansky, the reality star converted to Modern Orthodox Judaism. They tied the knot on January 20, and daughter Alexia arrived on June 18.

2000

The duo's second child together, daughter Sophia, was born on January 18, 2000.

When RHOBH premiered, Kyle and her husband put their relationship to the test. She was the only OG Housewife left when season 12 debuted in May 2022.

2020

"I met my husband at 23 years old and you change a lot during those times," the Halloween Kills star exclusively told Us in February 2020. "You know, you hit forks in the road — I think they say you change every seven years? I don't know, I think it's probably less than that — but you hit a fork in the road and you can either go together on that road or you see things differently and you go on different roads."

According to the Bravo star, her marriage works because she and Umansky are "always on the same page with our goals and our morals and how we want to raise our children and what we want out of life."

2020

Rumors swirled that the pair were pumping the brakes on their marriage, but Kyle was quick to set the record straight. "It used to get me so upset when lies were out there about me. ... But this [new] one threw us for a loop," she told Us in October 2020, joking that there were only "a couple moments" during the COVID-19 lockdown where her husband got on her nerves. "But for the most part, we were just saying the other night, like, 'You know, going through something like this, you really realize the people that you really miss and the people that you really don't.'"

2021

Kyle shared a throwback snap of herself and Umansky, gushing via Instagram, "Our 28th Valentine's Day together❣️💞 I love you @mumansky18."

Former RHOBH personality Dana Wilkey shared a fan theory that Umansky was having an affair with Dorit Kemsley — which the Beverly Beach designer swiftly denied. "Kyle and Mau are our friends and my kids call them uncle and auntie. Do you think this is ok for my kids to see when it's a disgusting lie? If this is the only way you can make a buck then so be it but at least have some decency and stop trying to peddle false narratives especially when you know there is ZERO truth behind it and your whole motive is to just hurt people for no reason," Kemsley wrote via Instagram in August 2022.

The realtor and his wife did not immediately respond to the rumors.

April 2023

Umansky revealed that he and Kyle were forced to “address” speculation about their marriage during season 13 of RHOBH. “We’re not getting divorced. … I mean, it’s so dumb,” Umansky claimed during an appearance on “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast, referring to Kyle being photographed without her engagement ring. “[There’s] that one stupid story that came out there and then the girls all, you know, decided to talk about it on the Housewives and so now it’s a story line. So there’s definitely some stories out there and Kyle and I address it and we’ll take it from there. It is what it is.”

July 2023

Us confirmed that the couple split. “Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for a while,” a source told Us. “But are still currently living together and are amicable while they figure out the next steps.”

The estranged couple broke their silence via social media that same month and clarified the status of their relationship. “In regards to the news that came out about us today … Any claims regarding us divorcing are untrue. However, yes, we have had a rough year,” the twosome said in a joint statement via Instagram. “The most challenging one of our marriage. But we both love and respect each other tremendously. There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part. Although we are in the public eye, we ask to be able to work through our issues privately.”

September 2023

One day after Umansky claimed that he and Richards were “not separated” during an appearance on his real estate brokerage The Agency’s “Red Mic” podcast, he walked back the comments.

“Kyle and I are human beings. We have emotions, we have feelings, we’re going through a really hard time. We are currently separated,” he told TMZ. “We are not talking about divorce. We’re trying to deal with this stuff internally, with ourselves, privately.”

October 2023

Umansky raised eyebrows when he was seen holding hands with his Dancing With the Stars partner, Emma Slater, in photos obtained by TMZ. Eagle-eyed fans soon noticed that Richards deleted an Instagram post supporting Umansky and Slater’s DWTS journey shortly after their intimate outing made headlines.

Despite the speculation about his relationship with Slater, Umansky dedicated his DWTS performance to Richards later that week on Most Memorable Year Night.

“My [Most Memorable Year] was 1996 when Kyle and I got married and Alexia was born,” he explained via Instagram. “We had Farrah and Alexia. I was 26 when I was fired from my job and was broke. Kyle was my rock and together we rose up and we rose up 1000 x and we moved mountains a lot of them. It’s been an incredible journey. Tonight’s dance is dedicated to Kyle and my Family.”

One day after the performance, Richards addressed the photos of Umansky and Slater holding hands.

“That was very hard to see,” she said during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “That hurt my feelings.”

Richards continued: “I don’t know if anything’s happened yet [between Mauricio and Emma], but obviously there’s something there. Listen, I love him very much and we are amicable. That really did hurt me.”

October 2023

RHOBH fans got a glimpse of the problems in Umansky and Richards’ marriage during the season 13 premiere of the Bravo series.

When Richards revealed that she’d gotten two more tattoos — totaling five — Umansky noted that he’d only known about three of them. “Well, maybe you should be looking at my body closer,” Richards shot back.

After Umansky said that he would “not allow” Richards to get any more ink, the actress told him he doesn’t have a say in the matter.

“I’m at a point in my life where I don’t have to explain anything to anybody anymore, including you,” she said. “I went from doing everything my mom told me to do to being a mom myself and having to be a good example to my girls and I just realized you can do all that and things can still go to s-t.”
