Maria Menounos and Husband Keven Undergaro’s Relationship Timeline

Through thick and thin! Maria Menounos and her husband, Keven Undergaro, have been by each other’s side no matter what obstacles they faced. The pair met in the late ‘90s while working on the set of a small film in Boston. At the time, Menounos was a local college student — but the Hollywood writer knew that he had found the love of his life. “When I first met Maria, I had never met anyone like her,” Undergaro recalled to Yahoo Lifestyle in December 2018. “When we said goodbye it was very emotional, even though we had only known each other for a few days. We both wanted to cry, and we didn’t know why.” The twosome didn’t say goodbye for long as they began to date and eventually moved in together — despite Menounos’ father not approving of their relationship at first. “[Keven and I] both had family dramas. We definitely clung to each other and became closer,” the Chasing Maria Menounos alum explained to the outlet. “I think we realized very quickly we had each other’s backs.” [sendtonews type="float" key="hSxz6uwKUl-2829352-14453"] After dating for nearly two decades, the AfterBuzz TV creator got down on one knee as he and the anchor appeared on the Howard Stern Show in March 2016. “This show has meant so much to the both of us,” Undergaro said while down on one knee. “This is the first thing we listened to together 19 years in that basement on a single twin mattress and I said, ‘One day you will be on that show and you will be a star.’ And here you are, and here we are. Why not make it official now?” Following the sentimental proposal, the two tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in 2017 live on TV moments before the ball dropped in Times Square. Menounos' parents were in attendance for the special ceremony. Undergaro and the Kicking Old Skool star later had a second marriage ceremony in Greece, which her father helped plan, in October 2018. “It’s gonna be a wild journey," Menounos exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of her nuptials. "Trying to plan something internationally when your dad’s running the show is a reality show." Throughout their relationship, the One Tree Hill alum has been candid about her fertility struggles. 1990s

The two met for the first time while working on a movie together that was filmed in Boston. At the time, Menounos was a student at Emerson College. Once filming wrapped, the couple began to date.

March 2016

Undergaro proposed to the journalist while the two appeared on the Howard Stern Show together.

“This show has meant so much to the both of us,” he said while down on one knee. “This is the first thing we listened to together 19 years in that basement on a single twin mattress and I said, ‘One day you will be on that show and you will be a star.’ And here you are, and here we are. Why not make it official now?”

December 2017

The couple got married in Times Square live on air during Fox’s live New Year's Eve broadcast and the ceremony was officiated by Steve Harvey.

October 2018

Menounos and Undergaro tied the knot for a second time in an Orthodox ceremony in Akovos, Greece.

“For anybody who doesn’t understand, we did get married New Year’s Eve, yes, but this is our,  like, big official ceremony and reception in Greece, and so we’re very excited,” the talk show host explained via her Instagram Stories at the time.

January 2021

After teasing plans to expand her family on the couple’s "Better Together" show, the Massachusetts native clarified she was not currently expecting.

“We are still in progress, not pregnant yet!” Menounos told Us at the time. “That’s the plan, and we will share good news when we can.”

February 2023

The correspondent revealed she and her husband are expecting their first child via surrogate after trying to conceive for nearly a decade.

“So we had a lot of plans. We were going to go to Greece in the summer. We’re having to move that up because we’re having a baby,” Menounos shared while appearing on Live With Kelly and Ryan.

April 2023

"We're having a girl! We're very excited to announce we have a baby girl coming,” Menounos said on her “Heal Squad x Maria Menounos” podcast. "We've been thinking about names for years — because as you may or may not know, this has been almost a 10-year journey for us. We've thought about names forever, and I think we've come up with the perfect name for this baby."

May 2023

Before the pair revealed they were expecting their first child via surrogate, Menounos was diagnosed with stage II pancreatic cancer. Following the announcement, the journalist confessed she underwent surgery to remove the tumor, part of her pancreas, spleen, 17 lymph nodes and a fibroid.

July 2023

Us broke the news that Menounos and Undergaro welcomed a daughter, Athena, via surrogate. “It was the most special moment of my life,” Menounos exclusively told Us. “The doctor literally grabbed her and hiked her onto me. I sat with her on my chest, and Keven and I kept looking at each other like, ‘Oh, my God.’ It was just pure joy.”
