Everything to Know About Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna’s Revenge Porn Lawsuit

Back in court. After her loss in her defamation case against the Kardashian-Jenner family, Blac Chyna's focus has turned to her 2017 lawsuit involving Rob Kardashian. The former couple first sparked romance rumors in January 2016. After three months of dating, Chyna and Kardashian got engaged and announced that they were expecting their first child together. Their relationship was the focus of E!'s reality series Rob & Chyna, which aired from September to December 2016. The sock designer confirmed the pair's split shortly after their show was renewed for a second season. Amid the on-and-off relationship, Chyna obtained a restraining order against Rob in July 2017 after he leaked explicit images of her on social media. At the time, the model's attorney Lynne Ciani accused Kardashian of violating California’s law on the nonconsensual sharing of sexual images. The explicit photos were later brought up during Chyna's defamation case against her ex-fiancé's family. Chyna was seeking more than $100 million in damages, claiming that Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner played a role in her show's cancellation. In April 2022, Chyna was presented with the photos while on the witness stand. The explicit images and the restraining order were both presented as possible proof that Rob & Chyna couldn't have returned to E! if the twosome were unable to film together. "I was probably at the worst place in my entire life, at my weakest, lowest point,” he said. “She was the one person who brought me in at my lowest point. So I ignored her bad behavior toward my family.” Rob, who shares 5-year-old daughter Dream with Chyna, noted that he was “very vulnerable” when he started dating his ex-girlfriend. “I wasn't thinking about that stuff. My mind was just in a completely different place. It wasn't real love,” he told the court, before clarifying that his child "wasn't born out of spite." One month later, a judge ruled in the Kardashian-Jenner family's favor and Chyna was not awarded any damages. “On behalf of Kris, Kim, Khloé and Kylie, we want to express our appreciation to the jury. We are also grateful for the steady hand of Judge Gregory Alarcon in making sure that this was a fair trial,” attorneys for the family, Michael Rhodes and Michelle Doolin, told Us Weekly in a statement in May 2022. “The jury sent a clear message to Ms. White and her lawyer — I hope they are listening. When Was It Originally Filed?

Months after her split from Rob, the socialite filed her lawsuit in October 2017.

According to legal paperwork obtained by Us, Chyna accused Rob of using his social media to leak explicit images of her. "As a result, it was not just Rob's over nine million Instagram followers that witnessed his social media attack on Ms. White but rather the entire world witnessed it as well," the docs stated.

What Is the Reason for the Lawsuit?

In the original documents, Chyna claimed that she suffered "significant damages" after her private photos were posted in July 2017. Chyna referenced three graphic images and their accompanying captions as a "false" native that was "designed to harm" her reputation.

"At no time did Rob Kardashian have Ms. White's permission to publish these photos or information online, nor did Rob Kardashian ever attempt to seek Ms. White's consent to share these photos or her personal medical information before he posted them for his millions of Instagram and Twitter followers and the rest of the world to see," the legal docs read.

How Did Rob Respond?

In April 2022, a filing obtained by Us stated, "Mr. Kardashian denies Ms. White's allegation that he posted the images without Ms. White's consent and denies that Ms. White had an expectation of privacy in the images. He also disputes that his conduct caused Ms. White to sustain any mental pain and suffering, humiliation or emotional distress, and contends that Ms. White is not entitled to recover monetary damages."

When Is the Trial Happening?

A trial setting conference is scheduled for May 19. A trial date has been set for June 13.

Plans to Drop the Suit?

According to court documents obtained by TMZ in June 2022, Rob’s lawyers are alleging Chyna agreed to dismiss the lawsuit if Rob helped Chyna get dropped from a separate case filed by her former boyfriend Justin C. Jones a.k.a. Pilot Jones.

"With trial fast approaching, Chyna and her counsel looked to co-defendant Rob to resolve the Jones Case without her having to pay any money to secure a dismissal with prejudice," the legal docs read.

While Chyna allegedly agreed to drop the case, she has “changed her mind,” per the docs. Her team fired back at Rob in a statement ahead of the June 13 trial.

"Under California law, settlement discussions are confidential. Rob Kardashian has violated California law by revealing alleged details of ongoing settlement discussions,” Chyna's lawyer Lynne Ciani told TMZ about the claims. "Chyna is permitted under California law to disclose that settlement discussions regarding her revenge porn case against her ex-fiancé are ongoing. When and if a confidential settlement is reached on this case, Chyna will alert the court first and then the media."

Finally Settled

Days after Chyna's lawyer claimed that her client and Rob would be going to trial, Us confirmed that the former couple settled their lawsuit shortly before jury selection was set to begin on June 20. Details of the settlement were not disclosed.
