Roger Mathews Responds to Jenni 'JWoww' Farley's Divorce Talk on 'Jersey Shore': 'Hatred Spawns From Love'

Weighing in. Roger Mathews has responded following Jenni "JWoww" Farley's comments about their divorce on the Thursday, October 31, episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. "You don’t spend almost a decade of your life with only one person then just never care about them again. You can act like you do but you're probably lying," Mathews, 44, said in an exclusive statement to Us Weekly on Friday, November 1. "Hatred spawns from love." Farley, 34, has held back commenting on her split from Mathews on the reality show in order to protect their kids, Meilani, 5, and son Greyson, 3. However, on the latest episode, she broke down to Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. “We were talking about regrets earlier — I’ve been thinking about the biggest one,” she said. When Polizzi, 31, asked if her roommate was referring to Mathews, she replied yes. “I’m going through it with the divorce. It’s been almost a year since I filed,” Farley continued. “When you get divorced, you’re supposed to be celebrating and start a new chapter, but it’s really heartbreaking. And it’s stressful, the up and down battle of figuring out custody issues. I just don’t know when it gets better.” The reality star filed for divorce from Mathews in September 2018 after nearly three years of marriage. While the split did briefly become messy, they are now on the same page, focusing on their children. The divorce was finalized in August. In April, Farley went public with wrestler Zack Carpinello, introducing him to her roommates; the two split earlier this month after she saw him flirting with Angelina Pivarnick on an episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, they have since gotten back together, but sources confirmed to Us. "She’s met a terrific guy who I’ve met several times," Mathews said of 24-year-old Carpinello. "I hope they can learn the communication skills we were lacking." Tough Process

During the episode, Farley said the process is "really hard," noting she's "suffering" daily.

Kids First

"Part of me, mostly the father in me that had two kids with Jenni, will always love the mother in her," Mathews told Us. "It’s true we differ greatly in our parenting methods but we must now respect how each other parents in our own time with our children."

Mathews also noted that he's honestly "happy for Jenni" and has "no malice toward her."

Staying Civil

The pair both made allegations against one another but ultimately decided to be civil. "We went down that road. It got us nowhere but hurting our children," he said.

Friends Forever

"Hey, the Rock and his ex-wife are the best of friends. There’s hope," the truck driver continued. "I could easily be Jenni's friend, as there is no chance of reconciliation for us, and I hope we continue to coparent in a positive environment for our children."

Being Mature

He added: "People break up. It happens. Kids only get to enjoy their childhood once and I have no intentions of dampening that in any way."

Exhausting

Farley also told Polizzi that the process has been physically draining. "I just don’t know when it gets better. It’s more than exhausting," she admitted. "It can mentally break someone. I just want peace."

Standing Up for Herself

Earlier this month, Farley revealed she felt "disrespected by someone I called a friend and by someone who stated they loved me" after seeing Carpinello and Pivarnick flirting.

However, after he apologized on social media, the pair were spotted back together. She has also stated multiple times he's very good with the kids.

In fact, Carpinello has known the family for years — he was even at Mathews and Farley's 2015 wedding.
