The Olympian shared his affection for the singer during a March 2018 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I used to have a really big crush on Harry Styles, but here’s the thing: I was sleeping on Shawn Mendes,” the figure skater said. “Not literally, but I didn’t realize how cute he was … I know Harry will be upset, but … love is a funny thing.” The athlete met Mendes days later at an Oscars afterparty.
