Bethenny Frankel
The former Real Housewives of New York City star is helping Ukrainians fleeing their country amid the Russian invasion via her BStrong nonprofit. She announced in February 2022, just two days after the conflict escalated, that $10 million in aid was en route and another $1.5 million was already raised. She said that her crisis kits help with sudden homelessness, but she’s making sure that the refugees she helps get cash cards as well.
“When you’re dealing with individuals and families, it’s not a one-size-fits-all disaster. Some people have a tiny little baby, or the woman who just arrived in Poland after her husband had a gun put in his hand and was taken away to fight,” Frankel told The Cut. “That’s a different story and that’s where our cash cards come in. These people need money, to get plane tickets, or to get other things they need. So it’s $1,500 to $2,000 per family and we’re helping one family every ten minutes, but if there’s a mass exodus that’s going to increase.”
