Singer, actress and producer Zoë Isabella Kravitz is at her 15-year career peak with her role as Catwoman in 2022’s The Batman, a dark, gritty reboot of the famous superhero franchise (with the Dark Knight himself played by Robert Pattinson). Hopefully, there are more peaks to come! However, her fame is not solely based on her acting skills. Zoë’s fame began at a young age. In fact, it started at birth. If you recognize the name "Kravitz," then you know the star’s suave father, but both of Kravitz’s parents are recognizable figures. Her dad is Lenny Kravitz, a world-famous musician — and her mother, Lisa Bonet, is an iconic American actress of the ‘80s known for her role as Denise Huxtable on the sitcoms The Crosby Show and A Different World. How Is Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet's Relationship?

The struggling musician, Leonard Albert Kravitz met the TV star Lisa Michelle Bonet backstage at a New Edition concert in 1985, and they quickly became good friends.

In his 2020 memoir, Let Love Rule, the "Fly Away" singer wrote, "We vibed immediately. Time stood still. Without a lot being said, there was magnetism. I'd never had an encounter like it before. We were from the same tribe."

A couple of years in, the friendship turned romantic, and the pair moved in together in New York City. As is the cliché of Hollywood couples, they married in Las Vegas in November 1987.

One year later, they welcomed daughter Zoë into the world. According to The List, the pair separated in 1991 and divorced in 1993. Although the marriage lasted six years, their bond prevails to this day.

"Zoë’s mom and I now are best friends. It’s interesting because that’s how the relationship started," he once said. "It makes you feel really good when you can do that. When we’re all together now."

Who is Leonard "Lenny" Albert Kravitz?

The musician Lenny Kravitz was born on May 26, 1964, to the famous late actress Roxie Roker who starred in The Jeffersons on CBS. Her son, famously known as Romeo Blue in his early years, gave the world a unique blend of sounds from the Black culture in the rock music industry at the time. The star musician now has over 40 million records sold internationally.

The "American Woman" singer truly lives up to the title "rockstar." He took rock and used his creative powers to blend it with blues, funk, soul, folk, reggae and R&B.

One of his major claims to fame is that he set two records at the Grammys. The first is that the committee granted him the Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for four years straight (1999 to 2002). The second record broken is from the same accomplishment because it gave him the most wins in one category at the Grammys by a male artist. 

The creative genius has also earned nominations and awards from the MTV Video Music Awards, Radio Music Awards and American Music Awards as well.

In addition, the rock icon has also dabbled in acting on the big screen. The "It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over" singer acted as a child until music became his priority. "I always figured it would come back into my life," Lenny told Rolling Stone in 2012. "I was an actor when I was a kid. When I realized music was my thing, I just gave it up. I put blinders on, just focused on music. It's come back now and I really am enjoying it."

Who is Lisa Bonet?

The actress Lisa Bonet, born on November 16, 1967, came into the world after the golden age of Hollywood, but she reached adulthood just in time for the height of the funky era. Her time came in the ‘80s for the small screen and in the ‘90s for the big screen. 

Like her ex-husband, she earned several awards over the years. Her accolades include Saturn Awards, Young Artist Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. From 1984 to 1992, she famously portrayed Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show, and she also played Denise in a spinoff A Different World from 1987 to 1993.

Some of the films the actress starred in include Angel Heart, Enemy of the State and Biker Boyz. Her role in High Fidelity continued her fame through the early 2000s.

For years, the 1980s sitcom star dated actor Jason Momoa, who famously starred in projects including Baywatch: Hawaii, Stargate Atlantis, Frontier, See, Aquaman, Game of Thrones, and Dune. The pair got married in 2017 and have two children together, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf. They announced their separation in early 2022.

What Was Zoë Kravitz’s Childhood Like?

After her parents’ separation in 1991, Zoë stayed with her mother as they moved to a secluded five-acre ranch in Topanga Canyon. In a 2020 New York Times feature, the High Fidelity star described what it was like being raised by two celebrity parents. Bonet "wanted to give her daughter a connection with nature and nurture her imagination. She was a limited-screen-time parent before ‘screen time’ became a topic of widespread parental concern."

At 11, Zoë moved across the country to live with her dad in Miami, Florida. Some of the benefits Zoë discovered in her new life were trips to Europe and the Met Gala, attending acting school in New York, and waking up to Ashton Kutcher cooking omelets in her kitchen.

Not everything was fun and games, though. Sadly, in a 2015 Complex cover story, she revealed she developed an eating disorder disease as a teenager. "I had a really hard time when I was 16, 17, 18. I started with the eating disorder in high school…." she shared. "Just [a hard time] loving myself." Once her parents discovered her struggles, they stepped in to get her help.

In New York, she found her people: creatives who loved to hang out in Central Park and avoid pop culture. To this day, she still enjoys these friendships even amidst her immense stardom.

How Did Zoë Kravitz’s Career Begin?

When she was 19 years old, Zoë’s career started to roll out before her. She started with lowkey acting gigs while attending SUNY Purchase in Brooklyn. Now on her own, she tried to scrape together a career of her own away from the pressures and limelight of her parents. Later, she moved to Williamsburg in New York.

Even though she wanted to separate her achievements from theirs, her parents are certainly the ones who got her into acting and music. In her early twenties, she landed her first big role as Angel in X-Men: First Class. This was her first taste of that world.

Zoë went on to star in projects such as Divergent, Mad Max: Fury Road, Gemini, After Earth (with Will Smith), Fantastic Beasts, No Reservations, Big Little Lies, High Fidelity, and The Batman. Her role as Selina Kyle (Catwoman) in The Batman movie truly capped all of this off.

In addition to acting, the star dabbled in the music industry with songs like "Don’t" from her Big Little Lies series, in addition to a feature on Janelle Monáe’s "Screwed."

The Dope actress will make her directorial debut in Pussy Island, slated for release in 2023, which features her current beau Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker).
