Kerry Washington Talks About Being Pregnant in Louboutin Heels
Kerry Washington gushed about her relationship with shoe designer Christian Louboutin at the Daily Front Row Fashion L.A. Awards on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Nothing comes in between a woman and her shoes!

At the Daily Front Row Fashion Awards Los Angeles on Thursday, Jan. 22, Kerry Washington had the opportunity to thank the man who literally took her fashion game to new heights. The Scandal actress, 37, was on hand to present Christian Louboutin the award for Shoe Designer of the Year, and did so with a tale that goes back to the 2014 Academy Awards, where she was seven-months pregnant.

“Last year at the Oscars when I presented I was, I don’t know, like, 12 months pregnant, and I insisted on wearing Louboutin,” the actress said in her speech. “My mother said she held her breath the whole time. Her nightmare was I would trip and fall and what would that mean?” Washington explained. “I said, ‘I’ll be fine because I knew with [Louboutin], I have nothing to worry about.”

The actress hit the red carpet last March to the Academy Awards wearing a violet Jason Wu gown with the sparkly 5-inch heels, and despite her huge baby bump she said she always felt well “balanced” in his shoes.

The new mom, who welcomed daughter Isabella Amarachi Asomugha in April 2014, reflected back to when she became “Red Carpet Kerry” years ago — which is much different from white suit-wearing Olivia Pope.

“I discovered [Louboutin] at a time when I was looking for a character that was much more personal,” Washington admitted. “I was searching for who I am when I’m out there in the world standing behind my work, and when I slipped on my first red sole, I knew who I was in that world.”
