When Kim Kardashian was picking out her red carpet dress for the MTV Video Music Awards 2016 on Sunday, August 28, she didn’t have to go far! In fact, all she did was push aside a few hangers in her closet.
“For this year’s VMAs, I originally wanted to go for a really glammed-up look, but I changed my mind at the last minute!” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 35, revealed via her app.

Why, you ask? Well, sometimes spending a week frolicking in a series of nearly naked bikinis makes a girl want to go minimal. “I was so inspired by my recent trip to Mexico that I went with this amazing, vintage Galliano dress that I’ve had in my closet for forever,” Kardashian shared. She teamed the little black dress with lace-up sandals, two gold necklaces and a whopping 20-carat diamond ring — a new gift from her husband, Kanye West.
To complete the look, the Kimoji creator noted that her longtime makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, whose makeup tutorials she stars in, and celeb hairstylist Michael Silva served up bronzed makeup and a “wet” hairstyle. “We were all so inspired by the beach hair and light makeup I did during a photoshoot at Casa Aramara!” she wrote.

As he told Us Weekly, Dedivanovic gave Kardashian “Greek goddess” makeup using Laura Mercier products. He applied the Candleglow Soft Luminous foundation in Maple, then set it with translucent loose setting powder on her T-zone. For a hint of bronze, the pro contoured along Kardashian’s hairline, nose and cheekbones with Matte Radiance Baked powder in Bronze-03. He finished with Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist to boost her natural glow.
