Lauren Conrad just shared her New Year's resolutions on her blog and in addition to writing more thank you notes and planning weekly dinners with friends, the reality star-turned-designer wants to organize her closet once a month.
And the 25-year-old style star isn't the only one hoping to streamline her surroundings in 2012. "I'm de-cluttering. Personally as well as physically in my house," Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger told Us Weekly. "I'm giving everything away! I'm going to have an estate sale."

Know your clothes. Each season remove everything from your closet and get rid of what you haven't worn in the past year in addition to anything that doesn't fit you anymore or is old and falling apart. Consider inviting a few friends over to help you decide what to keep and what to toss.
Create functionality. Separate the remaining items into categories (pants, dresses, tops, etc.) and designate an area in your closet for each one. You can take it a step further by color coding each section.
Invest in matching hangers. When you open your closet you want your eyes drawn to your beautiful clothing, not your tacky, mismatched hangers. Also, make sure every time you bring clothing home from the dry cleaner that you swap out the hangers immediately.

Be disciplined. As soon as you take off an item of clothing, put it back in your closet in the same place where you found it. Laundry should go directly into a hidden hamper so you never have piles of dirty clothes in your home.
