Move over, Kendall—there’s a new catwalk queen in town!
Laverne Cox schooled models everywhere when she sashayed and spun down the runway at the Go Red for Women fashion show at New York Fashion Week on Thursday, Feb. 12.
Participating in the annual American Heart Association event, which aims to raise awareness about heart disease nationwide, Cox, 30, donned a plunging Donna Karan dress in the association’s crimson hue, cinched at the waist and boasting a chiffon cape.
The Orange Is the New Black actress—who, it was just announced, has been tapped for the upcoming CBS drama Doubt—strutted her stuff to the tune of David Guetta‘s “When Love Takes Over.” And when she hit the end of the runway, she simply couldn’t resist twirling for the audience in her custom creation.
“Ok I just had to twirl and once I started I couldn’t stop,” Cox captioned a video clip of the moment, which she shared via her Instagram page, adding on the hashtag, “#WonderWomanRealness.”
She might been feeling like a badass superhero, but the Internet had another comparison in mind! Orange fan account, @OITNBswirl, posed the question, “Why does Laverne Cox look like the [dancer] emoji?” complete with an image of the actress alongside the fiesta-ready ideogram.
The blonde beauty, for one, didn’t mind one bit. She reposted the photo with the caption, “This is hilarious. #GoRed.”
Also working it for the cause at the event: Cynthia Bailey, Donna Mills, Hoda Kotb, Zendaya Coleman, Bethany Mota, Thalia, and Cox’s OITNB costar, Dascha Polanco.
