Simply stunning! Willow Smith covered the CR Fashion Book’s ninth issue looking all grown-up in a corset and drawn-on makeup.
In a photo shoot done by legendary photographer Bruce Weber, the Chanel ambassador, 15, slayed in a long-sleeved white button-down layered under a tan brocade corset. Her hair is styled in large all-over plaits, and she wears black and white tribal-inspired face tattoos on the bridge of her nose, her forehead and around her eyes. She also has similar marks on her fingers.
The magazine, edited by Vogue Paris’ former editor in chief luminary Carine Roitfeld, teased two other images from the issue, which comes out on September 12, with Instagram posts. In one, Smith, who’s the daughter of actors Will and Jada, gives a little attitude while pushing up the sleeves of a boxy dark blazer, paired with a pleated knee-length skirt, a button-down and an embellished beret. And in another, the “Why Don’t You Cry” singer, who wears a pleated uniform-style skirt with another corset layered over a top, performs a graceful pose with her right arm stretched to the sky.
Smith, the face of Chanel eyewear, talked about the importance of her role in fashion in a recent interview with the Telegraph. “It’s not every day that a 15-year-old black girl with dreads gets elected to be a Chanel ambassador,” she said. “I know a lot of girls who look like me feel that they’re not beautiful and feel like they don’t have a place in the media or a place in the world. I want them to know that’s not true, and if you’re confident and you love yourself, then everything you see, your perception, will start to change and you’ll see things differently. I want to show those girls that they might not think they’re beautiful but they are.”
