30 Seconds to Mars’ “City of Angels” Video: Kanye West, Lindsay Lohan, Other Stars Get Emotional, Candid

It was christened “The City of Angels,” but Los Angeles, for the thousands of stars and would-be stars who arrive there every year is also a place of dreams, broken dreams, and plenty of nightmares. In the new 30 Seconds to Mars music video for their song “City of Angels,” many top names in the industry address very mixed emotions about the entertainment capital in candid interviews.

The video features interviews with Jared Leto and other band members plus a staggering galaxy of stars including Kanye West, Lindsay Lohan, Selena Gomez, Ashley Olsen, Lily Collins, Olivia Wilde, James Franco, Juliette Lewis, Shaun White, Corey Feldman, Alan Cumming, and Steve Nash, as well as some lesser-known L.A. performers like Christopher Lloyd Dennis, who dresses up like Superman for tourists on Hollywood Boulevard.

As the video cuts between the band’s song and the impactful interviews, the stars talk about their experiences in the famed city.

“This city took my mother, but it also gave me my child,” West, 36, reflects. His mother, Donda West, died at age 58 in 2007 following a botched plastic surgery procedure; his love Kim Kardashian gave birth to daughter North this past June.

“I’ve been to the top and I’ve been to the bottom more times than most people ride in an elevator,” admits troubled former child star Feldman, 42.

Fellow party circuit veteran Lohan, 27, opens up about her own personal struggles in the city.

“I’ve disappointed myself the most in my life, to not be like ‘Wake the f*** up. Look what you have. This is what you wanted,'” she says, adding, “Nobody’s perfect.”

Gomez, 21, reflects on the backlash she’s gotten from starting as a “Disney girl.”

“People try to tell me what to do every single day,” she reveals. “I think they think I’m a goody goody, I’m boring, I’m a fame whore, I use people.”

In total the video spans more than 11 minutes, and features several of the celebrities getting emotional while recounting their experience.
