Anderson Cooper is branching out with his new daytime talk show, Anderson (premiering September 12; check your local listings). One thing the 44-year-old isn't quite ready for?
"Ellen [DeGeneres] has been trying to get me to dance for a long time on television," the esteemed CNN journalist told Us Weekly August 30. "I'm not sure anyone really wants to see a skinny, gray-haired, middle-aged guy running around on stage dancing, but you never know."
Though Cooper will interview A-list celebs like Jerry Seinfeld, Sarah Jessica Parker and Daniel Radcliffe, he assures Us "it's not just about them pitching a movie or telling us something that we've heard before. It's about having a real conversation."
Cooper, who will continue to anchor CNN's nightly news program Anderson Cooper 360°, says he's excited to begin the next chapter of his career.
"You can cover a really broad range of topics, from big celebrity interviews one day to provocative social issues to fun pop culture topics," he tells Us. "I like that mix. I'm interested in what's going on in the world but I like stories that really resonate in people's lives."
