A year of big moments? The long-awaited Gilmore Girls revival is almost upon us, and Alexis Bledel told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview on Wednesday, November 16, that her character Rory Gilmore just might experience some very positive changes in her life.
Bledel said that Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, launching on Netflix Friday, November 25, picks up with Rory having not “been home in a long time” before she makes a stop in Stars Hollow to catch up with mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham).
“My character’s been working hard, as per usual, but she’s on her own, so she’s just more focused on what she is trying to accomplish,” Bledel revealed.

“She started her career in journalism at a time when the industry was changing quite a bit, so newspapers were going away, and she has kind of been chasing stories and crashing on people’s couches in the process,” she continued. “So she’s not really rooted anywhere.”
The Sin City actress, 35, pointed out that Rory’s trip back home is “really a catalyst for her to experience change.” And that change includes her connection with her mom.

“I think anyone who has a bond as close as theirs — a relationship that’s that closely knit together, and you do have a lot of time apart — coming back together can put you through … a roller coaster of emotions, some transitions, possibly, depending on how long it’s been,” Bledel said.
She added: “So in a way it’s a great place to start because there might be things to work through, there might be things to celebrate — we don’t know yet.”
Devotees of Gilmore Girls, which signed off in 2007 after seven seasons, have certainly been abuzz lately about just what the celebratory moments might include. Some fans have speculated that a pregnancy or a wedding could be in the cards.
