Amy Schumer Is Reportedly in Talks to Star in Live-Action Barbie Movie: Details!

Wrapped in plastic, it's fantastic! Amy Schumer is in early talks to star in a live-action Barbie movie, Variety reports.

According to the industry publication, the Sony film will focus on the iconic blonde getting kicked out of Barbieland and having to survive in the real world.

The original screenplay was written by Hilary Winston, but most likely will be rewritten by Schumer, 35, and her sister, Kim Caramele. A summer 2018 release is expected.

Last year, the Emmy-winning comedian joked about having her own personalized "Amy Schumer Doll" — that looked more like a Cabbage Patch Kid — in a sketch for her Comedy Central series, Inside Amy Schumer. The toy comes with liquor to spike her tea, a six-pack of cranberry juice to help with her UTI, a crop top to show off her tramp stamp, and birth control.

Schumer's last leading role was in 2015's Trainwreck, which she also wrote. While promoting the comedy, she revealed what advice she'd give to others in the business. "Be open to your dream changing. If you’re working and you realize, ‘I’m a really good producer,’ or, ‘I really like writing more but I told everyone I grew up with I’m going to be an actor’ — they don’t care, they’re worrying about themselves," she told Variety that June. "I’m the same way. I enjoy acting but I also found I really enjoy writing and directing. I love laughing. I enjoy watching other people succeed."
