Bachelor Nick Viall Gets Slapped, Breaks Down in Tears in Season 21 Trailer: Watch!

Nick Viall now has something in common with Brad Womack, and it isn’t just the fact that both have had multiple visits to the Bachelor mansion end in heartbreak. Case in point: Viall gets slapped by one of the season 21 ladies in a recently released trailer, much as Womack did by Chantal O’Brien during the season 15 premiere that aired in 2011. Ah, memories.

The promo for the long-running ABC dating series’ January 2 return teases that Viall, a two-time Bachelorette runner-up, is getting “one last shot” to find love. Narration during the footage says, “If you think that this season will be smooth sailing, then you don’t know Nick.”

Among the spot’s highlights are scenes of the Bachelor, 36, making out on a yacht, crying over the side of a balcony (somewhere, Jason Mesnick is proud) and pushing over a table in anger. There’s also that dramatic slap scene.

Viall himself appears to express doubt as to whether his fourth return to the storied franchise is indeed a good idea. (He appeared on Bachelor in Paradise season 3 over the summer.)

“Fourth time’s the charm — question mark?” he says skeptically in the promo. Another scene shows Viall saying about someone, “It just seems a little weird that she’s here.”

One snippet suggests that Viall might be on the verge of getting in a compromising situation with one of the women as he says off camera, “I don’t think this is a good idea.”

Multiple sources have previously confirmed to Us Weekly that this season, which has finished filming, was a successful one for Viall. “The season is going very, very well,” an insider told Us. “Like, one of the best seasons ever. Nick is finding love — for real.”

Watch the promo above. The Bachelor returns to ABC Monday, January 2, at 8 p.m. ET.
