Forget the fantasy suite this summer! ABC is expected to debut a new Bachelor spinoff called Bachelor in Paradise, Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed on Friday, March 21. The show will be similar in format to ABC’s Bachelor Pad, which was yanked last year, but Bachelor in Paradise will be filmed in a tropical destination.
“The romantic dating series will feature new twists, shocking surprises, unexpected guests and some of the most unlikely relationships in Bachelor history,” the network told EW. “Plus all the usual romance, drama and tears we’ve come to expect from the Bachelor franchise. It all comes together in the romantic television event of the summer.”
ABC is expected to bring back the villains and running fan favorites from previous seasons of the show, so that they can once again compete to find their true significant others. The latest franchise, according to EW, was conceived by Mike Fleiss and Warner Horizon TV.
Bachelor in Paradise participants will be based in some remote “romantic paradise,” where they will compete to find their true loves — or at least a steamy hookup. Just like The Bachelor, the new spinoff will include a rose ceremony, although the format may be slightly different from the weekly sending home of a contestant.
The show will pan out over six episodes after The Bachelorette airs on ABC.
And yes, Chris Harrison will host.
