Talking to Jimmy Kimmel in his first post-elimination interview on Monday, June 20, on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 28-year-old Tulsa, Oklahoma, realtor played down his onscreen antics, joking about threats he made to fellow contestants, and being evasive about his latest stunt: posting pictures of himself smooching Robby Hayes‘ ex-girlfriend Hope Higginbotham.

“At the end of the day, it is a show so things are amplified,” he told Kimmel via Skype. “We try to be ourselves and we try to be who we are, but at the same time, whoever you are is amplified up about a million times.”

“When you’re in the moment, you say things and do things — sometimes I’ll do things in order to get the result I want, and it’s not always the best thing,” Johnson admitted.

“It’s not like I would do that,” he replied, before adding, “I obviously have people to do those things.”

And what about his latest piece of questionable behavior? Smooching with Hayes’ ex, and slamming him as “someone who lies, cheats and ends a four-year-long relationship in order to pursue fame on a TV show?”

“You know, we were traveling and we just happened to see each other and we went from there,” he replied. “I don’t want to make any judgments or say where it’s gonna go.”
