No sympathy for the other guy! Shawn Booth, who clashed with Nick Viall throughout their time together on The Bachelorette‘s season 11, tells Us Weekly exclusively what he thinks about his former rival’s drama with Amanda Stanton on Bachelor in Paradise.
Booth, 29, who completed New York Sports Clubs’ Bravest and Finest workout in honor of First Responders Appreciation month, told Us on Wednesday, August 10, that while he and fiancée Katilyn Bristowe haven’t been watching Paradise, he has put his friction with Viall, 35, in the past. (Booth and Viall — the season 11 runner-up — butted heads while vying for Bristowe’s affection, with the tension becoming so intense that Booth refused to refer to his competitor by name and instead would just call him “the other guy.”)
“We put everything behind us,” says Booth. “We’ve all moved on. We did some charity work last year for prostate cancer and raised about $30,000 together, and we’ve moved on with our lives.”
“I wish him nothing but the best, and everything that happened on our show was completely blown out of proportion, and I was extremely upset with the editing that went on with me and Nick,” the trainer continues. “But again, it made for good TV and ratings, and that’s all that [producers] care about.”
When asked if he has any pointers for Viall, Booth replies, “I don’t think I need to give him any advice. He knows what to do. I think this is his third show, so he’s got it all figured out.” Feel the subtle snark!
The season 11 winner adds that he and and Bristowe, 31, have not yet decided on a wedding date, as they keep going back and forth on which season they should pick. He also refers to Bachelorette season 12 standout Chad Johnson as “hilarious” and says, “There’s something to be said about going out on national TV and just letting it all out and just doing whatever you want, knowing that there’s gonna be 10 million people watching.”
On Paradise, Viall has complained about Josh Murray asking out Stanton after Viall himself went out with the single mom. But Stanton wrote on her blog on Wednesday, August 10, that she didn’t think Viall actually had feelings for her because he only kissed her in front of ABC’s cameras.
Meanwhile, Viall told Us exclusively on August 10 that his time on Paradise allowed him to see Murray’s “snakiness.”
