Mattel and Sony Pictures are teaming up to make a live-action comedy starring the world's most famous doll, Barbie

Another toy story is coming to theaters near you! The world's most famous doll, Barbie, will soon be brought to life in a new, live-action comedy movie by toymaker Mattel and film studio Sony Pictures, Deadline revealed earlier this week. (And no, it won't be anything like the YouTube video shared by Human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova on Wednesday.)

Screenwriter Jenny Bicks, whose credits include the HBO series Sex and the City and the Amanda Bynes feature film What a Girl Wants, has been tapped to pen the script for the movie, which will allow Barbie to "use her personal and professional skills to step into the lives of others and improve them, almost like a modern-day Mary Poppins," Deadline reported.

"We've always thought that the Barbie story had great potential, but a universe of possibilities opened up when Jenny, Walter, and Laurie brought us their unexpected, clever, and truly funny concept," Columbia Pictures President of Production Hannah Minghella told Deadline of the movie. "It captures everything that has made Barbie a classic for generation after generation while also standing on its own, establishing Barbie as a truly original screen character."

Added producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald in a statement to "While it's an overused word, Barbie truly is a legend, a cultural symbol whose career choices have been as unlimited as her wardrobe. She is about empowerment, but never at the expense of fun. Our hope is to capture all of these aspects of Barbie in a modern take on the character that can appeal to moviegoers of all ages."

Incidentally, Barbie isn't the only doll headed for Hollywood. Hasbro's '80s icon Jem (of Jem and the Holograms) is also coming to the big screen; she'll be played by Nashville actress Aubrey Peeples.
