Bethenny Frankel‘s first novel, Skinnydipping, hits stores May 1–and the former Real Housewife is already plotting out its big screen adaptation.
“I’ve been approached for the book to be a film and a television series,” Frankel, 41, told the Associated Press in a recent interview. “My gut says it really is a film; maybe later it could be a TV series. It has the arc, the story, the characters to be a film.”
The Bravo star is ready to cast the fictionalized, movie version of herself, too, should the opportunity arise. Her first choice? “When I thought about the lead character, I thought about people like Mila Kunis,” she said. “Expect the unexpected. I think that Mila Kunis would be perfect.”
If Kunis, 28, is busy, the entrepreneur said she’d also be thrilled to have Lea Michele–a big fan of Frankel’s Skinnygirl Margarita–take on the part.
Though Frankel has written books before, Skinnydipping is her first foray into fiction-writing. “It was a great experience,” she revealed. “I really liked fiction.”
When asked about the unexpected new form her career is taking, the entrepreneur-turned-author stressed that she’s not overthinking it. Instead, she’s focused on doing what she’s been doing all along: her own thing.
“Everyone asks, are you the next this, are you the next that,” Frankel shared. “I’m the next Bethenny! I don’t ever look at what anyone else is doing.”
