Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon and Amy Will Finally Lose Their Virginity in “Very Tender” Episode

Big Bang Theory

Amy and Sheldon are about to put the “bang” in The Big Bang Theory. The brainy couple, who have been on and off since meeting through an online dating site in a Season 3 episode in 2010, are finally set to lose their virginity to each other.

The long-awaited deed will be done during the CBS sitcom’s Dec. 17 episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The episode’s plot centers on the gang planning to see the new Star Wars film, with Sheldon (Jim Parsons) ultimately opting to skip the movie in order to enjoy a romantic evening with Amy (Mayim Bialik) on her birthday. Also making an appearance in the episode is the late Professor Proton (Bob Newhart).

“We have a scene where Sheldon and Amy discuss it before we even get to the bedroom, and it’s one of my favorite scenes that Jim and I have done together,” Bialik, 39, told THR. “It’s very tender and special. As much as Amy really wanted this, it’s terrifying for her to have this in front of you, even with the right person and someone you’re in love with.”

Since both characters have explored the dating scene this season, Bialik admitted to being “very surprised” that the pair would finally go all the way in the episode. Meanwhile, Parsons, 42, pointed out that the episode “doesn’t feel overly momentous,” and that Sheldon takes the moment in stride.

“This is not something he’s been waiting and waiting for,” Parsons continued. “As he says to Professor Proton, ‘I understand the mechanics.'”
