Chris Harrison: Andi Dorfman’s Bachelorette Suitors Are Like a “Fraternity”

Chris Harrison reveals why the "close-knit" contestants on Andi Dorfman's upcoming season of The Bachelorette reminded him of Trista Sutter's suitors; "It's not a fraternity," he complains. Here, Dorfman films on March 19.

Less bromance, more romance! Bachelor franchise host Chris Harrison said there has been—surprise!—drama on Andi Dorfman's upcoming Bachelorette season. Only this time around, Harrison explained, there have been multiple troublemakers in the mix.

"This season reminded me a little of the guys from Trista's season," Harrison, 42, told ABC News Thursday, May 1. "It was a really close-knit group… and that's a good thing, but it's also a bad thing because it's not a fraternity." (Trista Sutter, the very first Bachelorette, captivated viewers back in 2003 during her inaugural season when she ultimately chose Ryan Sutter. The couple still remain married and share two kids.)

"[Andi] wants the guys to be there for her," Harrison explained. "That always gives you some issues along the way. These seasons never go smoothly and there are always going to be bumps in the road."

In fact, Harrison, reiterated that the Atlanta-based district attorney has been "a breath of fresh air" compared to previous Bachelors and Bachelorettes. "I love the way she approaches everything," Harrison said. "Because of her background, she's very analytical and she's methodical about approaching things almost like a case. She's a great investigator and she knows more about these guys in a very short time than any of our bachelorettes have known in an entire season!"

"You can ask her about the final 10 guys and she could name every brother, parent," Harrison said. "It's astounding!" The longtime Bachelor host has been a big Dorfman proponent, even comparing the 26-year-old reality star most recently to Selina Meyer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus' character on HBO's Veep.

While the new season promises plenty of drama, it has been atypical for both cast and crew for other reasons. Harrison revealed that Bachelor producers broke away from normal protocol last week, after fellow contestant Eric Hill's death. The suitors were told the news and according to Harrison, "Everybody's very emotional right now."

Dorfman is currently in the final stages of her journey as the Bachelorette. Season 10 of The Bachelorette will premiere Monday, May 19 on ABC.
