Stop. Everything! Paul Feig announced on Twitter on Wednesday, June 10, that Chris Hemsworth has been cast as the receptionist in his all-female Ghostbusters reboot.
“Our receptionist. #whoyougonnacall,” the director tweeted, along with a smoldering snap of the Australian hunk.
In the original Ivan Reitman-directed flick, Annie Potts portrayed Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson’s characters’ receptionist.
As fans are well aware, Hollywood’s leading funnywomen — Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon — are set to take over the boys’ legendary characters.
“Those four ladies I have starring in it are so funny and that’s half the battle,” Feig said in a recent interview about the project, due in theaters July 2016. “I’m going to battle with the best army I have. My whole crew from all my other movies have come aboard, and some great special effects people have come aboard — I have never really done this level of effects before — and I’m excited!”
The Internet is equally as excited — especially about Hemsworth. “@paulfeig I will accept that phone call, even if he's calling collect,” one fan tweeted, while another offered: “Chris Hemsworth is in the new Ghostbusters?! God is just flooding my life with all these blessings.”
