From Ross to Robert! David Schwimmer is set to play Kris Jenner's late ex-husband and O.J. Simpson's attorney Robert Kardashian Sr. in the upcoming miniseries American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.
As previously reported, Ryan Murphy's 10-episode project will chronicle Simpson's 1995 murder trial following the death of his wife Nicole Simpson Brown, Jenner's best friend. It will also star Cuba Gooding Jr. as Simpson and American Horror Story's Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark.
According to an FX press release, "the miniseries takes a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court." In addition, it will examine how "a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt."
American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson is the first installment of Murphy's new anthology miniseries, which will focus on famous crime cases. It's also produced by his Glee and AHS co-creator Brad Falchuk.
Kardashian Sr. died at the age of 59 in September 2003 from esophageal cancer. He shared daughters Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and son Rob Kardashian with Jenner, with whom he split from in 1991 after 13 years of marriage.
