Fifty Shades of Grey Brings in $248.7 Million at Global Box Office, Sets Record for Biggest International Opening of an R-Rated Film

Apparently Christian Grey isn't the only one who doesn't do romance. Millions of moviegoers lined up over Valentine's Day weekend to see the highly anticipated film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey

The film brought in a gross of $90.7 million domestically and $158 million internationally, bringing the grand global total to $248.7 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This number broke records, making Fifty Shades the biggest international opening of all time for an R-rated film.

Despite film critics' complaints, the movie, starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, doesn't appear to be losing steam. 

Fifty Shades was the clear box office winner this past weekend, with new British spy flick Kingsman: The Secret Service coming in second domestically with $35.6 million.
