Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t take it! The cast and crew of Friday Night Lights are reuniting at the 2016 ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, in June, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The event, which is sure to excite Panther football fans, comes 10 years after the beloved NBC series debuted in 2006.
The festival location is a special coincidence. The series was set in fictional Dillon, Texas, and filmed in Texas. The reunion will take place on a football field(!), and include live music, tailgating goodness, photo ops and a pep rally. It will be revealed at a later date which actors are expected to attend.
Friday Night Lights ran for five seasons from 2006 to 2011. (During its third season, it started airing on DirecTV’s “The 101 Network,” then rebroadcast on NBC.) Some of its stars included Kyle Chandler (Coach Taylor), Connie Britton (Tami Taylor), Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins), Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen), Jesse Plemons (Landry Clarke), Minka Kelly (Lyla Garrity), Adrianne Palicki (Tyra Collette), Scott Porter (Jason Street), Aimee Teegarden (Julie Taylor), Michael B. Jordan (Vince Howard) and Matt Lauria (Luke Cafferty).
Rumors of an actual on-screen FNL reunion have been shot down for years. In December 2013, Kitsch, 34, broke hearts everywhere when he told Vulture that he would never do an FNL movie.
Creator Peter Berg added salt to the wound that same month. “I’ve come to believe it’s probably not a good idea, and I seriously doubt it’s gonna happen,” he told Collider.
The ATX Television Festival takes place June 9-12. It will also host writers panels for The O.C. and The Shield and a 20-year reunion for the cast of Everybody Loves Raymond.
