5. Melisandre, the Red Priestess from Asshai, brings Jon Snow back from the dead.

The Red Woman gained a whole new fan base when she brought Jon Snow back from the dead during episode two. She also revealed her impossibly old age during a rare moment of vulnerability after she removed her amulet to expose her naked, centuries-old body.

4. Arya has a name: It’s Arya Effing Stark.

After many trials and tribulations — going blind, having to battle the Waif through that epic chase scene in Braavos — Arya finally killed the acolyte during episode eight. Ned Stark’s youngest daughter then returned to the House of Black and White, where she placed the Waif’s face and told Jaqen: “A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell,*** and I’m going home.”

3. Yaass, Yara Greyjoy and Dany!

The two female powerhouses formed an alliance in episode nine and ignited rumors of a future romance while exhibiting sexual tension during their discussion in Meereen. While discussing Euron Greyjoy’s intentions to give Dany “his big cock” in marriage along with his ships, the Mother of Dragons noted that she did not expect a ring on her finger from the fierce iron-born lesbian. Yara told Dany: “I never demand, but I’m up for anything really,” to which the stormborn replied with little more than a sexy, coy smile.

2. Sansa Stark kills her sadistic husband,Ramsay Bolton.

Sansa slayed after she escaped her rapist husband and ultimately saved her brother Jon Snow during the Battle of the Bastards in episode nine. “No one can protect me,” she told the former commander of the night’s watch prior to the battle, which she won after secretly forming an alliance with Littlefinger and the Knights of the Vale. After the bloody and vicious battle for Winterfell, Sansa killed Bolton, serving his flesh-eating hounds — which he himself starved for seven days — their defeated master.

1. Daenerys Targaryen shows the Dothraki who’s boss.

Dany burned the khals to the ground after they attempted to decide her fate while smugly insulting her. “You are small men … none of you are fit to lead the Dothraki … but I am,” Khaleesi told them before shoving over a brazier and setting the tent ablaze with all the leaders inside. She later emerged from the structure, which was engulfed in flames, completely nude and unscathed while thousands of Dothraki bowed before her. In the penultimate episode of the season, Dany was still in power, riding on her dragons and saving Meereen by burning the ships of the slave masters.
