Watch out Blair Waldorf!
Hilary Duff is channeling her inner mean girl for Thursday's episode of Community — and says she had no trouble ditching her squeaky clean image to play queen bee for a day.
"I haven't really done anything where I got to be a bitch before," Duff says of her role as Meghan, an alpha female who bullies Britta, Shirley and Annie on the NBC series. "It wasn't that I had to do so much preparation — everyone's had someone be mean to them before — but it was just exciting to play something different."
Duff's Meghan meets her match in Danny Pudi's character, Abed.
"[Meghan acts] super confident but is totally, you know, shallow and scared inside," explains the actress. "I have this big scene where I walk into the school cafeteria and call [Pudi] out and everybody hears and he ends up really embarrassing me and I leave. He comes up with the greatest insults."
So does Duff — who appeared in six episodes of Gossip Girl last year — have a rekindled interest in TV roles?
"Getting that little taste of TV again made me miss it," she says her time on set at Community. "It reminded me that the hours are really long, but in a good way. Everyone on set was very close and I miss knowing that you're going to see the same people each day, [and] you're going to be able to come home and sleep in your own bed at night. I'd definitely do TV again if the right project came along."
Community airs Thursday at 8 p.m. (EST) on NBC.
