“The best Christmas gift I could have asked for is an Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson duet. Thank you, #HairsprayLive,” another commented.

“Whoever’s idea it was to do a duet with Jennifer Hudson and Ariana Grande at the end of this needs a raise,” suggested another viewer.

Others found it hard to regain their composure after Hudson’s showstopping, emotional performance of “I Know Where I’ve Been” earlier in the live TV version of the hit Broadway musical.

The song, about the struggle for racial equality in the U.S., was previously sung by Queen Latifah in the 2007 film version. (Watch J. Hud’s version in our video recap above.)

“That, my friends, was one of the best live musical performances EVER seen on television,” one fan declared, adding that it topped Hudson’s Dreamgirls rendition of “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”

Another tweeted, “I can’t believe what my human ears just heard.”
